A vocation is NOT a career, a job, or a profession. A vocation is a MYSTERY that often manifests itself through people, circumstances, and events. It can be recongnized in some of the following ways:

One is continually attracted to the thought of serving God

One is drawn to prayer

One wants to give without counting the cost

One is committed to Jesus Christ and the Gospel message

From all eternity God has specifically chosen those He wants in a special way to be His own. There is no date set as to when He will extend His invitation to each individual He wishes to call. Some are called at a very young age. The Lord speaks to the hearts of others in their high school and college years. Still others are invited at an even later date. Accepting this invitation to become a Bride of Christ demands a total self-surrender to God and to all that He wills for her day by day in her love for Him and for her neighbor. Just as a wife, because of her love for her husband, follows him to the four corners of the world, so too will a Religious leave her father and mother and family in pursuit of greater holiness as a Bride of Christ, giving herself totally to her Divine Bridegroom.
