Christmas Visits in the Motherhouse

Our family experienced the true joy of Christmas when we visited our daughter, Sister Kateri, for three days at the Motherhouse. We shared many laughs, wonderful meals, hugs and had the opportunity to attend prayer and Mass together. With all of these moments, our joy was complete – and that is what Christmas is all about!  ~ The Ludick Family

Having my family here for Christmas was such a blessing and a beautiful gift from Jesus. Laughter echoed throughout the day and it was such a joy to see family pictures and make new memories. Seeing my father, who is a deacon, on the altar for Holy Mass and giving us Benediction was a blessing as well. The Lord gives us many gifts at Christmas; most importantly He gives Himself and I am also very grateful to Him for the gift of my family being here!  ~ Sister Kateri

For the family members who were able to come to visit Sr. Joan Clare at the Motherhouse this Christmas, it was a special treat to get away from the hustle and bustle of our own town’s frantic Christmas “holiday!”  To celebrate the birth of Christ here in Baltic, is so truly “Christ-centered” in attitude, prayer, music, decorations and hospitality! It is lovely to be with our daughter and all the other sisters that form her family now, enjoying their love for each other and the Lord. ~ The Gulden Family

God has blessed me abundantly in my vocation and among these blessings is the gift of my loving family. My family has been extremely supportive of my vocation and look forward to their visits at the Motherhouse.  The long drive from Ohio always reminds me of the importance of love and sacrifice in family life.  Christmas is a time to celebrate Jesus’ birth, the Holy Family and the love that we share with our own families. It was a wonderful visit filled with love, prayer, music and laughter.  Thank you Jesus for that cherished Christmas visit! ~Sister Joan Clare

Father Dennis Dugan, S.O.L.T. (Society of Our Lady of the Trinty), his mother and father came along to visit in the Motherhouse.  Father Dugan knew Sister Gertrude well and had worked with Sister.  Father Dugan currently lives in Belize serving in the Parish of The Divine Mercy.

We were also blessed with a visit from Father Edward St-Godard from Rhode Island.  Father had a close friendship with Mother Marie Alma, our foundress.  He has remained a blessing to all of us and we always look forward to his stay in Baltic.

Happy Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Enjoy the beautiful presentation on Our Lady of Guadalupe, the discoveries about the tilma of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

God of power and mercy,you blessed the Americas at Tepeyac with the presence of the Virgin Mary of Guadalupe. May her prayers help all men and women to accept each other as brothers and sisters. Through your justice present in our hearts may your peace reign in the world. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

CD Release – Christmas Joy

We have made our second CD: Christmas Joy!  This ensemble features traditional Christmas carols as well as unique arrangements of The First Noel, We Three Kings, and Silent Night. It was with great prayer and effort, along with the expertise of Michael Frishman and Carol Mailhot that this CD was made. We praise God for the many gifts He has bestowed upon us and we ask Him to touch your life in a special way through this inspirational music. IRL Regional Meeting

The Second Vatican Council stated that the Holy Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian Life” (Lumen Gentium, no. 11). As we prepare for the revised edition of the Roman Missal, due to be introduced on the first Sunday of Advent, it is good to be reminded that “an indispensable means of effectively sustaining communion with Christ is assuredly the Sacred Liturgy” (Vita Consecrata, no. 95).

In the past forty years there has been much written on the Holy Eucharist and many changes made in how the Church celebrates the Sacred Mysteries.  This year’s regional meeting will offer reflections on the vital importance of the Sacred Liturgy in the Church’s life and mission. Special emphasis will be given on how Divine Worship relates to the consecrated life in living the evangelical counsels and serving the needs of others.

Among the selected speakers will be Mother Marie Julie, SCMC.  The title of her conference is: The Sacred and Divine Liturgy: Intimate Longing for God. Everyone—clergy, religious and laity—is welcome to attend this day of spiritual renewal, reflection and affirmation of the consecrated life. The meeting will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the Mission Church—Lower Parish Hall Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Boston, MA. For more information on attending this conference click here.

Earth is Linked to Heaven

Our Sisters attended a workshop this weekend on the changes in the Roman Missal, third edition.  The workshop was given by Father Gabriel B. O’Donnell, O.P. at the Motherhouse in Baltic and consisted of five one-hour conferences.   Not only did we learn the developmental history of the Roman Missal since the early centuries of the Church up to the present, but we were spiritually renewed in our connection and commitment to the liturgy as a means of sanctification for all. We are grateful for the knowledge and inspiration we received from this conference.  Approximately 50 Sisters attended.  To learn about the changes in the Roman Missal click here.

Final Profession Day

Behold the Bridegroom comes, let us go out to meet Christ the Lord! Sister M. Gabriela and Sister Maria Teresa made their Final Profession on August 7.  We ask the Lord to bless them with perseverance in their vocation.  What a blessing for our Congregation and for the Church!

Psalm 45:13-17

The King’s daughter is all glorious within;
Her clothing is interwoven with gold.
She will be led to the King in embroidered work;
The virgins, her companions who follow her,
Will be brought to You.
They will be led forth with gladness and rejoicing;
They will enter into the King’s palace.

In place of your fathers will be your sons;
You shall make them princes in all the earth.
I will cause Your name to be remembered in all generations;
Therefore the peoples will give You thanks forever and ever.

Summer School 2011

The Academy of the Holy Family Summer School 2011 at Sacred Heart Education Center is deep into their program. Sister Mercedes, several of the Sisters of Charity and an excellent lay staff help make this summer school possible for students to prepare for the upcoming school year.

Preparation for Vows

Sister Gabriela and Sister Maria Teresa are in the novitiate for their intense spiritual preparation for their perpetual profession on August 7. Our prayers are with these Sisters as they prepare to be spouses of Jesus Christ. God bless you Sisters!

41st Anniversary

This joyous celebration of the anniversary of our Congregation’s foundation began with Holy Mass and continued with festive community activities.  These are the Sisters who were in the Congregation since 1970, when we received our papal approbation from Rome.
